Unusual Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1865, concave form with footed base, recessed circular opening in top and carved oval opening at shoulder, brush-decorated with an unusual design of conjoined spotted blossoms and a flower blossom around the opening at the shoulder. A 1 1/4" rim chip. Short in-the-firing lines to rim. Shallow chipping to underside at edge. Minor wear to opening in top. H 4 1/2" ; Diam. 7 1/2".
