Scarce Ten-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "WILLIAMS & COUCH. / NEW GENEVA. / PA.", late 19th century, large-sized, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring Williams & Couch maker' stenciling with stenciled flourishes. Decorated below with a large freehand "10" flanked by dashes, between wavy freehand stripes. Additional freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A large sealed crack on underside, extending to right handle of jar. Two thinner cracks extending from rim to shoulder area on front. A salt drip to right side of jar. H 20 1/2".
