Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Abstract Fish Design, probably Palatine, WV, circa 1875, tapered jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim, the front decorated with four wide stripes of cobalt. Reverse with fainter, abstract decoration of a swimming fish, flanked by stylized water. Provenance: A recently-discovered example. Excellent condition with a small chip to underside at edge. H 6 3/4".
