Three-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON", Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, circa 1793-1797, squat-shaped, ovoid jar with footed based, heavily-tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the rim and shoulder area as well as around the base with a dipped iron-oxide slip decoration. Appealing, early form. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing surface chip to front. A few other small, typical in-the-firing flaws to surface. Crazing to front and side. Numerous small chips to base. Small chips to interior and exterior of rim.
