Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "McCARTHEY / & / BAYLESS. / LOUISVILLE. / KY.", circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim with wax sealer interior, the front stenciled "McCARTHEY / & / BAYLESS. / LOUISVILLE. / KY.", between two freehand stripes. Very nice condition with some minor wear to stenciling, the front with a small piece of adhered clay, tiny stone ping, and wear to inner canning jar rim. H 9 1/2".
