Very Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Paw Stove Lift, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT, 19th century, modeled with four clawed toes, decorated with a slip-trailed floral motif near the top and slip-trailed vining along the toes. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. An in-the-firing separation on underside, extending through to top of lift. Small chips to edges. Chips to two toes. H 4 1/2".
