Very Rare Diminutive Multi-Glazed Redware Jar, attributed to S. Bell & Son, Strasburg, VA, late 19th century, small-size ovoid jar with rounded foot and semi-rounded rim, the surface decorated with splashed copper and manganese glazes over a yellow surface. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Exceptional size, form, and color. One of the finest examples of Shenandoah Valley multi-glaze to be offered at auction recently. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Small chip to foot, connecting to a shallow 7/8" flake on underside. Other minor base nicks. Minor 5/8" area of wear to rim. H 3 1/4" ; Diameter (at opening) 3 5/8".
