Very Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Watch Spring Decoration, attributed to Captain James Morgan, Cheesequake, NJ, fourth quarter 18th century, approximately one-half-gallon jar of highly-ovoid form with footed base and tooled shoulder, the shoulder decorated with four stylized slip-trailed watch spring designs. Excellent and highly unusual form, possibly made to be used a spice jar. Small filled hole in underside. Minor glazed-over line on top of rim. Small, minor iron ping to shoulder. H 7 1/2".
