Price Realized: $5,980.00 ($5,200 hammer, plus 15% buyer's premium).
Exceptional Miniature Stoneware Presentation Pitcher with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Stamped "KATIE," Baltimore, MD origin, mid 19th century, finely-potted pitcher with footed base, ovoid midsection, and tooled line accents, the front decorated with a large two-stemmed clover plant flanking the impressed and cobalt-highlighted name "KATIE". Collar decorated with cobalt leaves between two cobalt stripes. The size of this pitcher, measuring 4 1/2" tall, is highly unusual. It is taller than most of the miniature pitchers produced in Baltimore during the latter half of the 19th century, but still very small. It is the only example of this size we can recall seeing. Likely made for "Katie," presumably a child, to be used as a toy. Professionally restored handle. Three small base chips. H 4 3/8".
