Unusual Four-Gallon Stoneware Advertising Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "P. SWEET / BULLS HEAD. N. Y," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a large chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized lawn. Small filled and colored chip by chicken's head. Chips and wear to one handle. A few small chips on interior of rim. Small chip to exterior of rim. Small worn spot to bottom edge of crock. A few minor flakes to surface.
