Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "THOMAS D. CHOLLAR / CORTLAND," NY State origin, circa 1840, highly ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaf and the number "2". Maker's mark brushed over in cobalt. Some bubbling to cobalt over name. Scratched area to front. Very faint Y-shaped line under one handle, near base. Additional hairlines under opposite handle. Rim chips.
