Scarce Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Iron Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield, SC, circa 1850, thin-walled, ovoid jar with applied tab handles and narrow opening designed to hold a lid. Decorated on the front and back, as well as under each handle, with an iron slip looping line design, applied over a pale green glaze. Jar measures approximately one-and-a-half-gallons. Broken into pieces and reglued. H 11 1/4".
