Rare Diminutive Stoneware Jug with Incised Game Bird Decoration, North Carolina origin, second or third quarter 19th century, small-sized jug with ovoid body, tooled shoulder and spout, and ribbed strap handle. Surface covered in a reddish-brown slip and decorated with an incised game bird, depicted with a crest, raised leg, and detailed feathers, perched on a stump. Rare size and decoration. Provenance: Purchased from Clint Lindley; Found in the Alamance / Orange County area of North Carolina. Base chips. 7/8" flake off underside at edge. Flake to interior of spout. H 6 1/4".
