One-Gallon Cumberland, MD Stoneware Advertising Jar, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with freehand cobalt stripes and featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "C. & H. HAST. / DEALERS / IN GROCERIES / & PRODUCE. / CUMBERLAND. / MD." Flake to bottom edge of underside. 4" crack on right side of front at base, extending 1 1/2" onto underside. Additional 2" hairline at base, continuing 2" onto underside.
