Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Jar, American, early to mid 19th century, ovoid jar with rounded foot, tooled midsection, and narrow opening, the lead-glazed surface decorated in manganese with alternating leaves and spots, underscored by diagonal slashes. Unusual and visually-appealing decoration. Glaze wear to rim. A few rim chips. Base chip. 2" glazed-over, in-the-firing line from rim. A faint, glazed-over 2 1/4" line on bottom, extending 1 1/2" up base of jar. This line also occurred in the firing. H 7 1/4".
