Rare Redware Figure of a Toad, American, 19th century, whimsical, hand-modeled figure of a toad with open mouth, circular eyes, and incised detail to feet, seated on a circular base. Mustard painted surface with brown spotted breast. Figure is fairly heavy, and may have been used as a doorstop. A highly unusual form in American redware. Damage to mouth. Base chips. H 4 3/4" ; Diameter (of base) 4 1/8".
