One-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Cream Jar, Stamped "E.W. MORT / ALUM WELLS, VA," Washington Co., VA origin, late 19th century, ovoid jar with flattened rim, impressed with E.W. Mort maker's mark along with a one-gallon capacity mark on shoulder. Jar is out of round. Rim chips. In-the-firing contact mark near base. H 7 1/2".
