Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, with tooled foot and carved oval at shoulder, decorated with a series of five brushed cobalt flowers and cobalt brushwork around opening at shoulder. 1 1/4" base flake. Faint top-to-bottom line, continuing onto underside. Additional short hairlines in wall of spittoon, continuing onto underside. Stone ping on top edge. H 4" ; Diameter 9 1/2".
