Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Ravenswood, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "U LYTLE, / GEN. MDSE. / RAVENSWOOD / W. VA." Freehand stripe decoration to upper body and base. Base with cobalt-script "2" flanked by flourishes. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. A 6 1/2" spider crack from rim on reverse. Some wear to cobalt and surface of jar. H 11 3/4".
