Glazed Redware Figure of a Lion, probably PA origin, 19th century, hand-modeled figure of a standing lion on slab base, the figure whimsically-rendered with heavily-applied mane, turned head with bulging eyes and curious expression, and long, curling tail. Applied dewclaws to the figure's legs and anatomically correct underside. Incised details to face, mane, paws, and tail tip. Surface covered in a heavy lead glaze with sporadic yellowish slip highlights to mouth. Very nice condition for figures of this type, with a large chip to one ear, a smaller chip with some residue to tip of other ear, minor wear to nose and eyes, and a small chip to one back leg. L 6 1/4" ; W (of base) 3 1/4" ; H 6 1/4".
