One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Starburst Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a star with crossed interior and rare spotted treatment throughout. Slip-trailed "1" to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: Purchased by the consignor in April, 1988 from Ernie Graf, Grandville, MI. A few minor chips to underside at edge. A 4" Y-shaped line to underside, not visible on interior. A small chip and very minor chip to interior of rim. Wear to inner rim for lid. A few very minor in-the-firing iron pings to reverse. Some light staining to surface. H 9 3/4".
