Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER.&.Co / ROCHESTER.N.Y.," circa 1855, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring a bull's-eye center to the blossom and swag details to the petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Cobalt accent to maker's mark. A network of tight cracks around body of jug below decoration. Two small in-the-firing contact marks to right side of decoration. Minor wear to base of decoration. Two shallow chips to top of spout. H 14 1/4".
