One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1858-1877, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested parrot perched on a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Scarce size. A large, tight spider crack in underside, which includes a crack extending 5" up base below proper left handle. A thin 2 1/2" crack at base on front extending 1 1/2" onto underside. A 2 1/4" Y-shaped surface line to shoulder on front, not visible on interior. Three small chips to interior of rim. A minor nick to rim on reverse. Grease staining to surface. Two very short surface lines at base on reverse. H 7 1/4".
