Monumental Salt-Glazed Stoneware Urn with Molded Decoration, OH origin, circa 1880, large-sized, flare-rimmed urn with flattened rim, ornamented with molded flowering urn and stylized shell motifs around the midsection, seated on a separate pedestal base with elaborate turnings, decorated on the upper body and midsection with molded vine and acanthus leaf motifs. Exceptional size for a salt-glazed stoneware object. Provenance: Robert and Nancy Treichler Collection, Tallmadge, OH. Excellent condition for this form. Urn itself with a 1 3/4" line from rim and chips to bottom edge. Pedestal base with lines from rim, the longest measuring 4", as well as few chips to interior of rim. H 25 3/4".
