One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Albany, NY area, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with incised daisy motif. One side omits cobalt on one circular element of the incising, while the other side fills the decoration completely. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Warren F. Hartmann Collection. Heavy chipping to rim. A very large sealed X-shaped crack ascending from base to midsection. A few base chips. H 9 1/4".
