Very Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "J. BOYNTON," Albany, NY, circa 1816-1818, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a cobalt X on the reverse, a stripe over the maker's mark, and highlights to the handle terminals. Albany-slip-glazed interior with slip runs to front and reverse. One of only a small number of marked Jonah Boynton pieces known. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., August 6, 2021, lot 76; Warren F. Hartmann Collection. Excellent condition with some minor in-the-firing chipping to base and a 1 1/2" line at base. H 8 3/8".
