Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a parrot perched on a branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. A thin in-the-firing flake to interior of rim and a minor in-the-firing chip to interior of rim. A minor base chip. An in-the-firing iron ping to front and side of jar. A very minor 1/2" surface line to interior of rim. H 10 7/8".
