One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, attributed to Enoch Burnett, Washington, D.C., mid 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a series of chain links with flower hanging from it. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 3/4" hairline on underside, continuing 2 1/8" up front. A tiny in-the-firing ping near midsection, which continues through to the interior and has been filled. Two small chips to one handle, one of which is glazed over. A tiny area of wear to exterior of rim. A minor in-the-firing nick to top of rim. H 10 1/8".
