One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Fruit Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, the surface dipped in a whitish slip and and decorated with three designs of a brushed stem bearing unusual sponge-decorated fruit. A restored spider crack to side of jar, continuing onto underside. A 1" unrestored line at base. H 9 7/8".
