Fine One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid form with tooled rim, the surface dipped in a light-colored slip and decorated on each side with large diagonal tulips featuring elongated stamens accented with spots. Midsection with graduated stem motif. Swag decoration to collar. Vine decoration to handle and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional condition and strong decoration, featuring a desirable tulip variant related to the Pennsylvania-German style. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., October 26, 2019, lot 142. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11 1/2".
