Three Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, both of semi-ovoid form, measuring one-half-gallon, one-gallon, and two-gallons in capacity, all featuring the stenciled advertising, "SCHAEFER & DRIEHORST / WINES & LIQUORS / 1428 MAIN ST. / WHEELING, W. VA." Smallest jug with a few small spots of faintness to stenciling, some in-the-firing mottling to surface, two handle chips, minor spout wear, and an in-the-firing contact mark to top of spout. Middle-sized jug with minor surface wear, some Albany slip drips to front, and inconsistent salt glazing showing a heavier application of the glaze to the sides and reverse. Largest jug with spout chips, the handle with two in-the-firing chips and a thin crack, and some in-the-firing splotches of lighter slip or clay to surface. H (of shorter) 9 1/2".
