Unusual Copper-Glazed Redware Egg Cup, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, flare-rimmed form atop a stepped pedestal base, featuring an atypical glaze treatment of splashed lead-and-copper glaze over a matte, whitish slip ground. Provenance: Ex-Collection of The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, Winston-Salem, NC. An in-the-firing contact mark to rim. Other minor rim wear. A glaze flake to pedestal base. H 3 1/2".
