Scarce Slip-Decorated Redware Flowerpot, Stamped "BAECHER / WINCHESTER, VA," circa 1880, flare-rimmed pot with tooled shoulder and crimped rim, the surface decorated with marbled manganese and cream-colored slip under a clear lead glaze. Impressed with Anthony Bacher maker's mark on underside. A 2 3/8" loss to rim with a 3 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack descending from it. An additional 3 1/2" crack from rim. Additional chips and wear to rim. Minor surface wear and very minor chipping to base. Clay residue on underside from stacking during the firing. H 6 1/2".
