Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Inscribed "Old Rye," Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, featuring the large freehand-cobalt inscription, "Old Rye, identifying the vessel as a rye whiskey jug. Desirable smallish size and bold, graphic lettering. Excellent condition with a small spout chip, a minor in-the-firing ping near base, a minor in-the-firing base chip, and minor fry to "y" in "Rye." H 11".
