Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration and Misspelled Maker's Mark, Stamped "T. HARINGTON(sic) / LYONS," NY State origin, circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with an unusual floral motif featuring open-centered petals. Brushed "4" to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark, which has a rare misspelling of "HARRINGTON," lacking a second "R." A shallow chip and thin, minor in-the-firing flake (contact mark), both to top of spout. A tiny surface flake below decoration and a few very minor in-the-firing pings to surface. A small worn spot to midsection on reverse. Minor spots of staining to reverse. H 17 3/4".
