Rare Redware Pitcher with Elaborate Copper Slip Decoration, Stamped "BAECHER / WINCHESTER, VA," circa 1880, thin-walled, ovoid pitcher with slightly-flared collar, the lead-glazed surface covered in yellowish slip and decorated throughout with thick copper-slip splotches. Impressed with Anthony Bacher maker's mark on front. Highly unusual glaze for this maker. Two adjacent reglued pieces at spout/rim including some thin chipping along breaks. Minor rim wear. A few glaze flakes to surface, the largest measuring 1 1/4" long. Some glaze wear to one edge of handle. H 7 7/8".
