Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Flowering Urn Decoration, Stamped "A.O. WHITTEMORE / HAVANA, NY," circa 1870, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a pedestal-based, open-handled urn bearing stylized flowers. Slip-trailed flourishes below. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a few spots of staining and a few minor, in-the-firing pings.
