Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Mask Decoration, Stamped "W A MACQUOID' &CO / POTTERY WORKS / LITTLE WST 12TH ST N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a stylized brushed design resembling a mask or owl's face. Cobalt highlight to capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 2 3/8" in-the-firing separation on underside, some small in-the-firing iron pings to surface, and a stained spot to left side of jug.
