Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA origin, circa 1980, ovoid jug with applied facial features including kaolin eyes with black-slip pupils and a small, open mouth with kaolin teeth and protruding lower lip. Surface covered in a mottled, olive-colored alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10 1/2".
