Fine Glazed Redware Jar, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, thin-walled, cylindrical jar with flared base, tapered shoulder, and thin, semi-rounded rim, the surface covered in a lead glaze over a brilliant, pale-green ground with yellow spotting. Delicate potting and excellent color. Provenance: From a long-term private collection of Galena, IL redware consigned to this auction. A 1 1/2" chip to interior of rim. A 1 1/4" chip and two lesser chips to exterior of rim. Additional rim wear. Some in-the-firing crawling to glaze. Some in-the-firing, glazed-over surface lines, not visible on interior. H 10 1/8".
