Copper-Glazed Redware Jug with Tin Make-Do Handle, Bristol County, MA origin, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and tooled spout, the neck and shoulder decorated with streaks of copper over a mottled yellow, orange, and red ground. Jug is fitted with a recent tin make-do handle with scrolled upper terminal. Excellent color. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a small New England collection consigned to this auction. A smooth chip to foot. Old paint to underside and some traces of paint to base area and interior of spout. Expected, very minor wear to interior of spout. Some wear to midsection. H (to top of handle) 6".
