Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.", Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, ovoid jar with footed base, tall collar, and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a horizontal floral motif featuring large leaves and small flower buds. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a wavy line of cobalt underneath each handle. Impressed below one handle, near base, "R.C.R. / PHILA.". Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a few glazed-over base chips.
