One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS BINGHAMTON. N.Y",, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term private collection. As-made condition with some bubbling to cobalt and two adjacent in-the-firing base chips on reverse, measuring a total of 1 1/4".
