Rare One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1845, ovoid-bodied cooler with tall collar, circular bung hole, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a double-stemmed daisy plant design. Heavy cobalt highlights to bung hole and handle terminals. Impressed "1 1/2" at shoulder. Exceptional small size and strong decoration, featuring an unusual daisy variant of the popular Baltimore clover motif. Professional restoration to both handles. Significant restoration around base area. Star-shaped crack on underside. A very tight, approximately 3 1/2" vertical hairline to right side of cooler. Crazing to collar on front. Hairline to left side of bung hole, extending to area above bung hole. Three small chips to interior of rim. H 11 1/2".
