Three Pieces of F.J. Caire, Huntington, Long Island, New York Stoneware, circa 1854-1863, a one-gallon cylindrical crock and one-gallon ovoid jar, both with brushed cobalt tulip decorations, marked "F.J. CAIRE, / Huntington, / L.I."; together with an unsigned F.J. Caire jar with cobalt tulip decoration. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. One-gallon cylindrical crock with some staining, a 3/4" surface line at base, not visible on interior, and a small rim chip on reverse. One-gallon ovoid jar with a restored 3 3/8" crack from rim on front and some small, unrestored flakes to surface. Two-gallon jar with a restored crack from rim on front and reverse, and an unrestored Y-shaped crack on underside, continuing onto reverse base in two places.
