Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "LEWIS & GARDINER / HUNTINGTON, L.I.", New York State origin, circa 1827-1829, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated on the reverse with an abstract brushed flower or leaf. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. A faint 3" line from rim on reverse, which is colored at the rim, two minor restored rim chips, and a minor, in-the-firing base chip.
