Two Pieces of Norton, Bennington, VT Stoneware, second half 19th century, a one-gallon jug with cobalt crossed branch decoration, stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON, VT.", paired with a four-gallon crock with cobalt foliate motif, stamped "E NORTON & CO / BENNINGTON VT". Jug with in-the-firing contact mark to front and side of jug, two iron pings, two minor chips to underside at edge, some in-the-firing brown spotting to side of jug, minor wear to lower handle terminal, and a small glazed-over chip to interior of spout. Crock with a thin 4 1/4" crack on underside, continuing 2" up front of crock, where it forms a cross, as well as some staining to surface.
