Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a daisy plant featuring a well-detailed blossom and four buds. Slip-trailed "3." above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A large inverted Y-shaped crack on reverse, extending from area below handle to base of jug. Two glazed-over, in-the-firing lines at base on front, measuring 1 1/2" and 1 1/4".
