Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT", circa 1855, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring two striped blossoms with long stamens. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 1 3/4" loss to one handle. A small chip and minor nick to opposite handle. Three small chips to interior of rim. Wear and shallow chipping to inner rim for lid. A 3/4" iron ping to reverse.
