One-Gallon Vertical-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Circle Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, fourth quarter 18th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open vertical handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a large brushed circle. Heavy circular cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. A 3 1/2" line on interior of rim, partially visible on exterior. Some bubbling to cobalt on one side. Two minor base chips.
